Engineering Universities in Ireland

Ireland is a small and beautiful European country that has a large number of international students pursuing higher education in it. At any given point of time in a year, there are around two hundred thousand students from other countries studying in the countries seven universities and a number of colleges. These institutions offer a wide range of academic courses, across disciplines and at all levels of the education system- from under-graduate to post-doctoral.

However, among all the courses which attract international students to Ireland the most, engineering tops the list. Engineering colleges in Ireland are among the best in the world. An international student has the option of pursuing graduation or Masters in Engineering from the engineering universities in Ireland. For pursuing post-graduation, however, a student must have completed fifteen years of education in his or her home-country. The Masters of the engineering courses is called M.Eng. Or M.E. in Ireland. The duration of stay for a Masters course in Engineering in Ireland differs. This is because the post-graduation engineering courses areof both one-year and two-year durations. The Master of Engineering is academically equal to the Master of Science and Master of Arts. For practical-oriented programs at universities of applied sciences, the post-graduation degree is called Master of Engineering, whereas in universities the engineering programs lead to a Master of Science.

The standard of education in Ireland is so high that the universities even offer degrees like M.Sc. in Engineering, Master of Business Administration and Engineering and Master of Business Engineering. These degrees show how Ireland has integrated various courses to shape a very modern curriculum. This is the reason why the system of education, or more specifically engineering in Ireland is so respected across the world.
