SAT Registration

SAT Registration of most high school students is done during the spring of their junior year or fall of their senior year. It is better to leave some time to retake the test if you, unfortunately, don’t score the needed to get admission in the college. The SAT exam is conducted every year nationally in the month of  August, October, November, December, March, May, and June. Deadlines for the SAT Registration fall around five weeks before the designated test date.

Process of SAT registration

Are you wondering how to do SAT registration? Here are the steps to proceed with your SAT registration. There are two methods for SAT Registration. They are:

  1. SAT Registration Online
  2. SAT Registration by Mail

SAT Registration Online

SAT Registration online includes mainly four stages – creating a student’s profile; filling out the application form; booking the test date and test centre; paying the necessary fee.

Step 1: 

A Student Account needs to be created on the website. Visit the College Board's official website: www.collegeboard.org and create your account.

Step 2: 

After successfully creating your College Board account, give your personal details. Mention your full, legal name and other identifying information carefully. Make sure that the name and other details are the same as your photo identification.

Step 3: 

Create your student profile by filling in the information about your :

  • high school details.
  • academic details.
  • Details related to extracurricular activities.
  • College-level details: College type, college size, majors

Step 4: 

Select Test Date and Test Center. The SAT exam is conducted at the test centres in the following cities: New Delhi, Bangalore, Calcutta, Cochin, Pune, Mussoorie, Kodaikanal, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Chennai.

Step 5: 

In the next step, your recent picture must be uploaded. Make sure to Upload a front-facing photo, in which your face is clearly visible as the photo will be used for verification purposes at the test venue.

Step 6:

 Pay SAT test fee. Before doing payment review the information provided, make changes if required.

SAT Registration by Mail

Students need to register by mail if one is:

  • Requesting testing closer to home
  • Requesting  for Sunday testing time
  • Paying the fee  by cheque or money order
  • Younger than 13 years old
  • Not able to upload a digital picture in the process of online SAT registration 
  • Registering through an SAT international representative.

Steps for sat Registration by mail is mentioned below:

  • You will need ‘The Student Registration Guide for the SAT and SAT Subject Tests, available at the schools.
  • The above-mentioned guide will have the form of Registration and a return envelope.
  • You must also include your recent photo with your paper Registration form. This photo will become part of your  SAT Admission Ticket, and test centre staff will it for verification by comparing it to your photo ID to ensure security on test day
  • After filling the form, it should be returned with a DD (demand draft)
  • Mailed forms are directed to a regional office.

SAT Registration last date fall before 4 to 5 weeks to test date. As soon as you know that you want to take the test, try to sign up the earliest. If you wait until the last minute for registration, there may not be any seats available in the testing centres near your location. Late SAT Registration will cost you extra fees in addition to the regular registration fee. So it is better to wake up early and do the SAT Registration and start preparing for it for your higher studies.
