6. Lincoln University

Lincoln University has the oldest agricultural school in the southern hemisphere. The university started in 1878 as the School of Agriculture, and from 1896 to 1961, it was under the University of New Zealand. 7. University of Waikato

Waikato University has a very unique department of education, the department of Māori and Indigenous Studies. 8. Auckland University of Technology

Auckland University of Technology was formed in 2000 when the technical college was converted into the University. The lineage of the college goes back to 1895. The university is also known for its diversity, with more than 4000 international students enrolled in the university.
