There are Two intake seasons in Australia

  • February Intake
  • July Intake

February intake is the Primary (main) Intake in Australia, and as the name suggests it starts in February, the secondary intake falls in July. Like most of the countries,  the Primary intake will have the most number of the courses offered by almost every University. The July intake will have limited number of Universities offering limited number of courses to choose from

There are other intakes like September and November, too, with even fewer courses. Vocational Courses have the intakes for January, May or July, depending upon the course and University.

Different Universities have different deadlines for each intake, so application process should be planned accordingly. Start before six months, be done with Language and Entrance Tests before three months and dedicate remaining time for the admission and visa processes ”

6 Steps to Study in February Intake in Australia 2020

If you have decided to Study in Australia, and don’t know where to start, we have answers for you. When considering Study Abroad, the most important thing is intake. Australian Universities have two intakes; the February intake is the primary of the two, to study in Australia for international students. Here is the timeline you should follow to Study in Australia for February intake. 

Step 1 : Start Now!

Most Universities in Australia for international students have first come first basis admission process. For February intake in Australia, you should start as early as possible. Keep in mind the deadlines that change from university to university, as there is not a fixed deadline for every college or University in Australia.

Before that, Shortlist the Universities you want to apply to. Choose the courses that suit you the most as per your career goals, academic goals, and field of study. Check the University website for the application forms and requirements.

Step 2 : Appear for the Exams: September 2019 to October 2019

Check the Australian University English Language Requirements. On the University website, you will find the admission requirements and tests that you need to take.
For competitive exams like GMAT and GRE, you have to book the test a lot earlier than for English Language Proficiency tests like IELTS and TOEFL.
In any case, it is important to appear for exams three months before, as you might require to take the test again.  

Step 3 : Start Applying to Colleges: October 2019 to November 2019

Look for February intake colleges in Australia 2019, shortlist and decide the college or the university before the deadline. Start preparing for your final application. The application must contain your uniqueness as a candidate and show you in a good light.

Contact your immediate supervisors and professors for the reference letters. Start constructing your SOP (Statement of Purpose). The documentation process should start before a month from the application deadline.

Step 4 : Acceptance Letters and Interviews: November 2019 to December 2019 

Colleges will revert you on your application status after a while. You should not delay in replying to that email. Some Australia colleges and Universities might ask for a  video interview, so be prepared for that, too. 

Make a quick decision once you get a confirmation from the University. Mail the college or university as soon as you take the decision. As said earlier, it might come to first come first serve, so do not wait to reply until the deadlines.

Once enrolled, you will be asked to pay the non-refundable confirmation fees. 

Step 5 : Apply for Visa/Education Loan: December 2019 to January 2020

Some processes will take time, and that should always be considered before planning. Apply for Study loan for abroad studies as soon as you get confirmation from the university.

The processing for student visa Australia will also take time. Document all the paperwork. Once you have all the necessary documents, the visa process in not as complex as it may seem.

Step 6 : Tickets and Departure: January 2020 to February 2020

You have done all the hardwork and now it is time to fly. Most courses will start in early February, so it is advisable to arrive in Australia a month before and look for accommodation on or off-campus. 

Gather all your necessary documents and their photocopies before flying.

You need to arrange for an international credit / debit card before departure. Make a pre-departure checklist and make sure you check every box on it.

6 Steps to Study in July Intake in Australia 2020

Step 1 : Start Now

Start with the shortlisting of the Universities to Study in Australia for July Intake. Choose the courses and Universities in Australia that you wish to attend. Choose the course that is best suitable for you according to your academic needs. It is important to go through the course details and eligibility criteria, too.

Different Universities in Australia will have different application deadlines for July intake in Australia. So make sure you are aware of the application deadline for the course and University you are applying to.

Step 2 : Appear for Exams: December 2019 to February 2020

Apart from the general requirements in Academics, there will be some language proficiency required for the admission in Australian Universities. Normally the tests required are IELTS and TOEFL, and sometimes PTE, as the government of Australia uses PTE for immigration purposes.

The Academic and competitive entrance exams are GRE and GMAT. The GRE in Graduate Record Examination, while GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test. The Latter is taken by the students willing to study MBA and management in Australia.

Score requirements for Universities in Australia can be found on the websites of Universities. Keep in mind the time that will be taken for the results to be declared and any retest in case of undesirable results.

Step 3 : Start Applying to Universities: February 2020 to March 2020

Once you have shortlisted the University and have all the documents ready, it is now time to apply for the Universities in Australia. As mentioned earlier, you should go through all the admission requirements and Eligibility criteria for your specific course and University.

The Applications are normally submitted individually on University websites. The other requirements along with tests and transcripts will be SOP (statement of purpose) and LOR (letters of recommendation).

Start writing for your SOP a month before the submission of the application and contact your managers and professors for the LORs. The goal is to put you in a good light and make your application stand out in the crowd.

Step 4 : Acceptance Letters and Interviews: March 2020 to April 2020

If you are accepted at the University, you will receive a confirmation mail from the University about the same. If you wish to go ahead with the University, you should reply without waiting.

Do not wait till the deadline to confirm your allotment once the University has sent you a mail. Reply as soon as possible, with whatever you have decided regarding the program you are accepted for.

Some Universities will also ask for a non-refundable confirmation fees. These fees also have a definite deadline and should be paid to the Universities in Australia before due date.

Step 5 : Apply for Visa and Education Loan: May 2020 to July 2020

As soon as you receive acceptance letter from the University, you should apply for the Student Visa in Australia. The student visa is one process that might take the longest time to process your application. You need to apply at least before three months from the start of your program.

The other important thing is the funds required for your study in Australia and student visa process. You can apply for your students’ loan around this time to help you with the funds. The other option to look for is Study abroad scholarships to study in Australia if applicable.

Step 6 : Tickets and Departure: June 2020 to July 2020

The final step of the whole process is to book the flight tickets. But before that, accommodation options should be sorted out in case you are not looking for on-campus stay. Arrange an international credit or debit card before flying.

Make sure you have all your required documents in place before flying. Make a pre-departure checklist and follow that so you do not miss anything important.
