6 Easy Steps to Study September Intake in Italy 2023

Step 1 : Start Now!

  • Shortlist the Universities that you are willing to apply to. Look for any specific or related courses to your field of study and start your research.  Go through all the courses and Universities in Italy carefully and make a list of the ones you are interested in.
  • The most important thing to look at is if the course is available in the September intake, and what are the application deadlines for the course. Also, see if you fulfill the basic requirements of the courses you are applying for. 

Step 2 : Appear for the Exams: April 2023 to June 2023

  • Check the Italy University English Language Requirements. On the University website, you will find the admission requirements and tests that you need to take. On the official websites of the Universities in Italy, you will find the admission requirements and the tests you need to take for a particular course.
  • Start appearing for exams during this time. The most common entrance exams are GRE and GMAT, along with English Language Tests like IELTS and TOEFL. The Italian Language Tests are PLIDA, CELI, CILS and TELC.
  • Keep in mind the time to prepare for the exam, book the exam, and the time taken to declare the results by the testing authorities. Also, have a buffer in case of retests if the results are not as per the expectations.

Step 3 : Start Applying to Colleges: May 2023 to June 2023

  • There will be some additional requirements for the admission process. SOP and LORs are very crucial parts of one’s study abroad application. They should make your application stronger and tell the selectors that you are a perfect fit for their University.
  • Contact your immediate supervisors and professors for the reference letters. Start constructing your SOP (Statement of Purpose). The documentation process should start a month from the application deadline.
  • Start working on your SOP (Statement of Purpose) a month before the application deadlines. Also, get in touch with your immediate supervisors and professors to get your LORs (Letters of Recommendation) written. When you are ready with all the documents, apply before the due dates.  

Step 4 : Acceptance Letters and Interviews: June 2023 to July 2023

  • If there is a development in your application, you will get an email from the University. You are required to revert them in case you are interested in attending the course. There might be a non-refundable fee to be paid.
  • As soon as you receive the mail from the University, you should reply to that if you are positive about the course. Do not wait for the deadlines to reply back. Send a confirmation mail to the University saying you are ready to attend the course.

Step 5 : Visa Application/Education Loan: July 2023 to September 2023

  • As soon as you get the acceptance letter, start applying for the Student Visa in Italy. The Visa process will take time. It is better to apply for a study permit three months before your departure.
  • Before the Visa processing, it is important to get all the required documents in one place. Also, you will need monetary proof to show that you can sustain yourself in Italy. If you are applying for Education Loan, this would be the time. Also, Study broad scholarships are a great way to fund your education abroad. Apply for them if applicable. 

Step 6 : Tickets and Departure: August 2023 to September 2023

  • The semester will start in September, and it is always advisable to arrive in Italy a month before the course starts. If you are going to live off-campus, you should look for accommodation options along with the residence permit for Italy.
  • Before flying, make sure you are not missing out on anything. Make a pre-departure checklist and follow it. Arrange for an international credit or debit card before you fly.

Step 1 : Start Now

  • Shortlist the Universities and Colleges you would like to apply to. Make sure you have done thorough research for the courses and Institutes you want to apply to.
  • The Universities you have shortlisted should suit your academic and future goals, and also should be economically suited to you. Go through the University websites and course details before deciding. Each University will have an application deadline of its own. So keep that in mind while zeroing in on the course.

Step 2 : Appear for the Exams: September 2023 to October 2023

  • Once you have shortlisted the Universities, look for the admission requirements in them. The admission requirements not only change with the Universities but also among the courses.
  • The common requirements will be entrance exams like GRE and GMAT in general. The English Language requirements can be fulfilled by TOEFL or IELTS. The Italian proficiency can be proven by PLIDA, CELI, CILS, and TELC results.
  • Preparing for an exam, and booking the slots and results take the time that should be considered in this timeline. Also, keep in mind that you might appear for a retest in case of undesired results.

Step 3 : Start Applying to Colleges: October 2023 to November 2023

  • You will require some additional documents like SOP (Statement of Purpose) and LOR (Letter of Recommendation) along with your application. Start writing your SOP a month before the application due date.
  • You should also contact your supervisors and professors from the college/university you last studied from, to ask for letters of recommendation. When you have everything you need to apply, and then go ahead with the process. Apply to the University before the deadlines.

Step 4 : Acceptance Letters and Interviews: November 2023 to December 2023

  • You will receive a confirmation from the university if there is a development in your application. As soon as you receive the confirmation, you should reply to the University.
  • If you want to attend the particular course, you should reply with the affirmation as soon as possible. Do not wait for the deadlines to apply. There might be video interviews in some Universities that you need to be prepared for.

Step 5 : Apply for Visa/Education Loan: December 2023 to January 2024

  • Once you have received your acceptance letter, start the preparation to apply for a student visa in Italy. Document all the required proof you will be needed and follow the guidelines of the process carefully.
  • Before that, you need to have proof of monetary funds. If you are willing to apply for an education loan, apply for that, too. Both the visa and loan processes are time-consuming. Start them at least three months before the departure.
  • Study abroad scholarships is also a helpful way to meet your fund requirements. Apply for them if applicable.

Step 6 : Tickets and Departure: January 2024 to February 2024

  • The last few steps consist of arriving in the country a month before the courses in February intake start. Look for accommodation options a month before, if you will not be residing on campus.
  • Make sure you do not miss anything important which is necessary while flying or after arriving. Make a pre-departure checklist to help you with the same. You also need to arrange an international credit – debit card before the flight.
