Chancellor Cory Entrance Scholarship

Description:

  • In honour of York's 11th Chancellor, Peter deCarteret Cory (LLB -50), former Supreme Court of Canada justice and distinguished international jurist, this scholarship will be awarded to a student entering the university directly from secondary school who has achieved a minimum 90 per cent admission average and is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person. Recipients of this award are not eligible for the York University Renewable Entrance Scholarship.

Application Process:

  • No application is required Recipients of this award are not eligible for the York University Renewable Entrance Scholarship. To renew, students must achieve a minimum grade point average of 7.80 and complete a minimum of 24 credits each academic year (prior Summer, Fall/Winter sessions).

Edinburgh Global Master's Scholarship

Award:

30 Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships will be awarded for session 2017-2018.

Each scholarship will cover the difference between the tuition fee for a UK/EU postgraduate student and that chargeable to an overseas postgraduate student. The awards do not cover maintenance expenses.

Subject to satisfactory progress, the awards are tenable for up to three years.

Eligibility
The awards are open to overseas students commencing a PhD in any field of study in 2017-2018.

Applicants must be liable to pay tuition fees at the rate applicable to overseas students and must have been offered admission to a full-time PhD research programme of study.

Academic merit

Applicants must be of outstanding academic merit and research potential.

Although candidates with an upper second class honours Bachelor's degree (or the overseas equivalent) can be considered, in order to be competitive you should really have a first class Bachelor's degree supplemented by an excellent Master's degree.

Other factors such as financial status, nationality and the proposed field of study are not taken into account.

Excluding factors

The University of Edinburgh will not generally consider candidates who have already obtained a PhD, or formal equivalent, as a result of direct research training.

Students already on a PhD programme cannot be considered for these awards.

Please also note that if you have applied for consecutive registration where you will start your Masters programme of study in 2017 and your PhDthe following year in 2018, that you will not be eligible to apply for an award in 2017.

Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships cannot be held concurrently with fully-funded scholarships such as a Commonwealth Scholarship, or a Marshall Scholarship.

The University of Edinburgh will not generally consider candidates who have already obtained a PhD, or formal equivalent, as a result of direct research training.

Summit Scholarship

Summit Scholarship

  • Summit Scholarships reward scholars for reaching the peak of high school achievement. You'll scale even greater heights as you join the UO's tradition of excellence.

Award Information

  • The Summit Scholarship awards Oregon top scholars $24,000 over four years—$6,000 per year. Due to the difference in tuition, out-of-state top scholars will receive $36,000 over four years—$9,000 per year. The Summit Scholarship can be combined with other UO scholarships, including the Presidential, Diversity Excellence, and General University Scholarships. Summit Scholarships may not be combined with the Apex Scholarship. Students enrolled in five-year degree programs will receive the Summit Scholarship for a fifth year. These degrees include BFA (Fine Arts), BLA (Landscape Architecture), BIARC (Interior Architecture), and BARCH (Architecture).
  • You must enroll at the UO in the fall term of your freshman year and you must enroll in 12 University of Oregon credits each term to receive this award.

Selection Criteria

  • Summit Scholarships are awarded to incoming freshmen based on these criteria:
  • Minimum 3.80 high school GPA on a 4.00 scale (students who receive an International Baccalaureate diploma at the completion of high school may waive the GPA minimum requirement)
  • Minimum test scores: 1260 SAT or 26 ACT
  • Have not attended another college after high school graduation
  • Note: If you do not meet the above criteria, you may qualify for the Apex Scholarship.

How to Apply

  • You will be automatically considered for the Summit Scholarship—no separate application is required. Simply:
  • Apply for admission by January 15, 2018
  • Meet the criteria with transcripts and test scores on file with the Office of Admissions by February 15, 2018
