  • Bachelor of  Engineering in Electrical Engineering

  • The Electrical Engineering program provides a foundation for work in the fields of analog and digital electronics, microelectronics, signal processing, communications, power generation, transmission and distribution, electrical machines, computing systems, controls, and general electrical engineering applications. Topics specific to Electrical Engineering are studied in specialized focus areas in the third and fourth years.
  • Electrical engineers design and manage power systems, communications networks and electronic products. They work on the electrical and electronic equipment and systems that are transforming our way of life.
  • We’ve redesigned first-year engineering at USask to help you succeed and make engineering more fun. We call the new first year RE-ENGINEERED. It’s the only program of its kind in Canada. It will get you excited and inspired about engineering.

In RE-ENGINEERED, instead of high-stakes exams, you will do more assignments and quizzes so you can improve your mark if you stumble early. Daily tutorials are part of the schedule so you can get help when you need it. And instead of final exams, you will explore the different branches of engineering in hands-on courses.

You will choose your engineering specialty – known as your major, or discipline – at the end of your first year. This is the area you will study in-depth in your upper-years classes.

  • Careers

Your knowledge of power systems can help prevent major power blackouts and protect the environment through the management of new energy sources. Your career opportunities could include the following:

  • creating electronic devices such as 3-D TVs, Blu-Ray players, cell phones and iPads
  • designing power train technology and control systems for vehicles
  • developing instruments to be used in agriculture, medicine, manufacturing and more
  • developing green energy technologies such as solar panels and wind generators
