  • Students can elect to specialize and write their master’s thesis in any subdiscipline of mathematics offered in Freiburg, including

  • Algebra, Algebraic Geometry, Arithmetic Geometry, Number Theory
  • Analysis
  • Applied Analysis and Numerical Analysis
  • (Differential) Geometry and Topology
  • Mathematical Logic, Model Theory and Set Theory
  • Probability Theory, Mathematical Finance, and Statistics
  • The specialisation in Financial Mathematics will be emphasised on the examination certificate.

Entry Requirement

  • Applicant should have a bachelor's degree in mathematics or equivalent that meets the following conditions:
  • Applicant must have a bachelor degree.

Application Process

  • DSH (result 2 or 3) or TestDaF (with a score of at least 4 on all four parts of the test) or the Goethe-certificate C2 or the 2nd level language certificate from the Conference of the Ministry of Education and the Arts or Telc C1 Hochschule.
  • Evidence of German language proficiency at B2 level is required for an application for Studienkolleg.
