  • Engineering Physics Diploma in Mechatronics

  • The Engineering Physics Diploma in Mechatronics is designed to teach you how to connect mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software systems to create smart technologies and drive innovation.

The program is self-contained, enabling you to enter the workplace immediately, but gives you a background in math and science that is adaptable for completion of a full BSc degree in Physics at UFV, or an Engineering degree from another institution. You learn topics such as mechanics, circuit analysis, sensors and actuators, and optics, and acquire a strong theoretical grounding in physics.

    CAREER EXPECTATIONS

As an emerging field, mechatronics has been accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. It is a discipline in full expansion. As our world relies increasingly on electromechanical systems to power new technology, the need for trained mechatronics engineers and technologists will continue to grow.

Because mechatronics graduates receive interdisciplinary training, they can work in a wide variety of fields, including automotive engineering, aerospace industry, space science, manufacturing, telecommunications, oil and gas, mining, power generation and distribution, robotics and artificial intelligence, biomedical technology, information technology, and software development.

Application Process

  • University of the Fraser Valley located in British Columbia, Canada offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate as well as diploma and certificate programs. Programs offered include English, Design, Citizenship, Nursing, Paralegal, etc. among others. The university further has a number of smaller schools under its umbrella offering these programs. These schools include the College of Arts, Faculty of Access and Continuing Education, Faculty of Science, School of Graduate Studies, etc. Every year nearly 15,000 students enroll in the University.

Some of the noteworthy features regarding admissions to the University of the Fraser Valley include:

  • Some programs have specific intake dates and others have a continuous application system to the university.
  • Many programs at the University of the Fraser Valley follow a “first applied, first admitted” basis for admission. This implies that applications are accepted until seats for the program become full. In such cases, if a program is full, your application may be referred to as the next intake.
  • Applicants need to submit official transcripts while applying to UFV. Transcripts can be sent via email to international.admissions@ufv.ca. Photocopies of the transcripts and unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
  • Transcripts will also have to be translated if they are not in the English language.
  • Documents required for admissions need to be submitted by the deadlines provided especially for programs that have a specific intake date.
  • The processing of applications may take as long as 6 weeks depending on the volume of applications.
  • International applicants must note that the visa procedure may consume up to 3 months.
  •  The following documents must be submitted along with the application for admission:

  • Official high school or post-secondary transcripts depending on the program you are applying for.
  • Valid Passport
  • English language proficiency test scores of tests like TOEFL, IELTS, etc.
  • International students may need their transcripts to be evaluated before submitting them to the institute.
  • Students applying from India still in high school can submit a copy of transcripts from Grade 11.
  • Course-specific requirements for graduate programs like work experience, personal statement, letters of recommendation, writing sample, etc.
  • English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

All international applicants who do not have English as their primary language of instruction will need to provide scores of English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, etc. Scores vary depending on the type of program you are applying for. Thus, students are requested to check the minimum scores required depending on their program type. The following table demonstrates the minimum scores required for degree and diploma level graduate and undergraduate programs.
