    Gain the analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills required to become a manager in the information technolgoy industry with a  Bachelor in Computer Information Systems from UFV.

    According to a recent BC Stats Report, average weekly earnings for technology employees are 85% higher than for non-tech workers in British Columbia, making a career in IT and attractive career choice.

    To prepare you for job opportunities in the IT sector, he Bachelor of Computer Information systems includes a mixture of theory and hands-on applied knowledge in UFV's well-equipped labs.

    In your first and second year, you complete foundational courses to provide you with a broad base of knowledge and experience supporting and maintaining single and networked systems.

    In third and fourth year, you gain additional technical knowledge and skills as well as more educational breadth and a better business background, preparing you to move into managerial positions in information technology. You also have the option to specialize in one of three concentrations to refine your skill set:

    Additional opportunities

    Study abroad in one of 20+ countries and earn UFV credits at a partner university. Students who take advantage of the Study Abroad program gain a global network of connections, build cultural knowledge, and are better equipped for the global marketplace.

    The Co-operative Education option offers students in the Computer Information Systems program the opportunity to obtain paid, career-related work experience in their field of study during their education at UFV. Both the diploma and degree are available with a Co-op option. After completing their first year of study, Co-op students alternate between semesters of full-time study and full-time paid employment.     Rapid change and the increased use of outsourcing have made the IT workplace a very volatile one over the last few years. The School of Computing meets twice a year with an external advisory committee to track and predict change, and to keep programs relevant to current and future organizational needs. Our diverse committee is peopled by members of industry and the public sector whose knowledge and experience is pertinent, timely, and crucial to our decision-making processes.

    Careers for information technology professionals fall into several categories, including but not limited to:

  • The British Columbia 2025 Labour Market Outlook identifies several IT professions as high opportunity occupations with excellent projected employment rate. Included on the list are: computer and information systems managers; information systems analysts and consultants; computer programmers and interactive media developers; web designers and developers; computer network technicians; and computer engineers.

Entry Requirement


  • Applicants must have All India Senior School Certificate awarded by CBSE/Indian School Certificate (awarded by CICSE)/Higher Secondary School Certificate/Senior Secondary (12th Class) Examination
  • Mathematics required as one of the subjects in 12th 
  • Applicant must have a bachelor degree.

Application Process


  • University of the Fraser Valley located in British Columbia, Canada offers more than 100 undergraduate and graduate as well as diploma and certificate programs. Programs offered include English, Design, Citizenship, Nursing, Paralegal, etc. among others. The university further has a number of smaller schools under its umbrella offering these programs. These schools include the College of Arts, Faculty of Access and Continuing Education, Faculty of Science, School of Graduate Studies, etc. Every year nearly 15,000 students enroll in the University.

    Some of the noteworthy features regarding admissions to the University of the Fraser Valley include:

  • Some programs have specific intake dates and others have a continuous application system to the university.
  • Many programs at the University of the Fraser Valley follow a “first applied, first admitted” basis for admission. This implies that applications are accepted until seats for the program become full. In such cases, if a program is full, your application may be referred to as the next intake.
  • Applicants need to submit official transcripts while applying to UFV. Transcripts can be sent via email to international.admissions@ufv.ca. Photocopies of the transcripts and unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
  • Transcripts will also have to be translated if they are not in the English language.
  • Documents required for admissions need to be submitted by the deadlines provided especially for programs that have a specific intake date.
  • The processing of applications may take as long as 6 weeks depending on the volume of applications.
  • International applicants must note that the visa procedure may consume up to 3 months.
  • COVID-19 Admission Updates

  • The University of the Fraser Valley does not accept IELTS Indicator results for admissions. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is now accepting Duolingo English Test scores.
  • The university is still continuing to process applications for the coming academic year.
  • Students who have not yet received their transcripts may still apply to the university.
  • Official high school or post-secondary transcripts depending on the program you are applying for.
  • Valid Passport
  • English language proficiency test scores of tests like TOEFL, IELTS, etc.
  • International students may need their transcripts to be evaluated before submitting them to the institute.
  • Students applying from India still in high school can submit a copy of transcripts from Grade 11.
  • Course-specific requirements for graduate programs like work experience, personal statement, letters of recommendation, writing sample, etc.
  • English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

    All international applicants who do not have English as their primary language of instruction will need to provide scores of English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, etc. Scores vary depending on the type of program you are applying for. Thus, students are requested to check the minimum scores required depending on their program type.
