  • Diploma in Construction Engineering Technician

  • As a Construction Engineering Technician, you will work with home builders and general contractors, bid for construction work and organize and supervise the participation of the various trades involved in a construction project. Construction management is a growing occupation regionally, and across Canada. You'll study in our new, state-of-the-art Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre.

    The program covers:

  • The interpretation of construction documents, on-site building engineering and safety, quantity surveying (estimating labour, materials and equipment required for a project), building codes and construction contracts.
  • The characteristics of various building types - with an emphasis on sustainable design principles and an understanding of energy and environmental technologies.
  • Practical building layout surveys and quality control testing of various building materials.

  • You will also gain extensive computer experience using general business software and specialized construction management and estimating software. The capstone project in this program is a professional portfolio that documents your learning and applied experience - a valuable tool for your job search.

    CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

    Graduates may find employment in a variety of jobs leading to supervisory positions in the construction industry. Opportunities include working for home builders, general contracting firms, subcontractors, consulting firms, and in sales with manufacturing and supply companies related to the building industry.

  • Sir Sandford Fleming College, commonly known as Fleming College is a renowned institution of technology and applied arts in Canada. The institution offers admissions to more than 100 diverse programs at levels ranging from the degree, the diploma to the certificate. Fleming College has not revised any dates for application due to the pandemic situation. However, they have switched to the online mode of application. 

    While applying for admission, the students can apply for accommodations in the Frost Campus or Sutherland Campus. Taking admission to courses at Fleming College requires some non-academic requirements. These are Immunization is required for some courses and Additional requirements like first aid, CPR, or criminal reference check are needed.
