You understand that every crewmember, from grips to set decorators, plays an important role in the final product that hits the screen.   • British Columbia has one of the largest film industries in North America, which continues to expand yearly. Centre for Arts and Technology’s campus in Kelowna puts our film students in a central location with access to film sets in both the Okanagan and the Lower Mainland. In addition to small independent film shoots and larger budget production industry projects, all of our students get the chance to direct at least one of their own short films. Your instructors at Centre for Arts and Technology film school are top pros who have worked their way up the rungs of the film industry ladder, collecting valuable knowledge and industry insights along the way. You’ll gain from their wisdom regarding every aspect of film production. Your days will be spent in our custom-built production studio, edit suite, and working as crew members on the sets of local productions.

    In just 18 months, this accelerated program will teach you: Production Planning • Budgeting • Screenwriting for Narrative Films • Cinematography • Lighting, Composition and Framing • Film Blocking and Staging Casting and Directing • Post Production and Editing with Final Cut Pro, After Effects and Pro Tools • Proposal Writing, Financial Backing, Marketing and Distribution • Promotion and Film Festival Submission.

  • Please complete the form online or print the application form and complete in ink and sign where indicated. (If applying online, this will be a digital signature). The checklists are provided to assist in ensuring that all information is included with the application. If an application is received unsigned it will be returned. APPLY NOW for Full Time Studies.
  • Official or original transcripts are required for all secondary and post-secondary courses taken prior to attending the Centre for Arts and Technology. Copies will not be accepted. All applicants 18 years or younger must have completed high school and submit a transcript. Official copies of their post-secondary transcripts are suggested for applicants 19 years or older because they are educationally informative to the Department Head, but they are not required.  Please note, you do not need to provide transcripts at the time you apply, and if you can fulfill all other admission requirements you may be granted conditional acceptance, full acceptance pending your submission of official transcripts.
  • The essay must be typed and a minimum of 250 words. It should outline your previous experience and incorporate how your educational goals relate to your intended career direction. The essay should highlight any extracurricular activities related to the program(s) applied for, your computer skills, and all activities that demonstrate your teamwork abilities.
