  • The Indigenous Family Support certificate has been suspended. Indigenous Education is in process of developing new programming to prepare Indigenous students to support wellness in Indigenous families and communities.     The Indigenous Family Support (IFS) Program provides students of Indigenous Ancestry* with opportunities to develop knowledge, skills, awareness and values needed to work with Indigenous individuals and families in schools and communities.

    Indigenous family support practitioners are trained to support the development of healthy Indigenous individuals, families and communities. Program graduates are in demand and function interdependently as members of a support team under the direction and supervision of experienced professionals in health, education and/or human service settings. This program will also give you the opportunity to reflect on your ancestry and develop self-awareness.

    Graduates are prepared to function interdependently as members of a community support team. The team could include family members, elders, friends, and professionals. Graduates work under the direction and supervision of experienced professionals and paraprofessionals in health, education and human services.

    Many graduates of the former Indigenous Family Support program have continued their education towards degrees in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Indigenous Studies and Education.

Application Process


  • Camosun College in Victoria, British Columbia offers over 160 diplomas, certificates, advanced certificates, bachelor's degree, and post degree programs under major disciplines such as Technology and Engineering, natural sciences, human services, health sciences, business, arts, and humanities. It also provides university transfers, continuing education, upgrading and preparatory courses, and career and trades training. Around 92% of the students graduating from Camosun College are either employed or pursuing further education.

    For admission to Camosun College, students must have graduated high school or be of 19 years of age as of first day of class. They also must meet the ELP requirements as well as the program specific requirements. GMAT/GRE/SAT scores are not required for admission to this college. Students can apply through EducationPlannerBC along with a payment of 100 CAD. The college will send an eligibility letter to candidates after reviewing the application. Candidates will receive a letter of acceptance only after the payment of tuition and fee deposit.

    The college serves approximately 20,000 students across its two campuses in Lansdowne and Interurban among which 2100+ are international students hailing from over 80 countries. The typical class size at Camosun college consists of around 24 students. The average age of students applying to Camosun College is 24. 

    Camosun College’s acceptance rate has not been disclosed by the college authorities but the standardized test scores tally suggests that the admissions process is fairly not easy and an applicant needs to follow the guidelines for admission very carefully and submit documents fulfilling the eligibility criteria set by the university to secure a seat here.

  • Camosun College accepts admissions for Summer/Fall/Winter academic terms.
  • The international student application comprises two parts- first, apply online through EducationPlannerBC and then submit supporting documents via email.
  • International applicants are required to apply for a student visa to study in Canada. Apply as soon as possible once accepting the letter from the institution because the visa process might take a minimum of 2 - 4 months. The student visa application process for Canada begins with receiving an admission offer from a Canadian university, you will need a study permit to study at a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada and a student visa to live in Canada.

    Required Immigration documents are:

  • Temporary Resident VISA/ Electronic Travel Authorization
  • Proof of Statement of having sufficient funds.
  • Physical Medical Examination.
  • Biometrics.
  • Students from the following countries can apply for a visa and get it earlier by using Student Direct Stream (SDS) and they have certain conditions to qualify: India, China, Morocco, Philippines, Senegal, and Pakistan.

    After successful verification of the VISA process, students can schedule an interview with the nearest Canadian Embassy.
