Merit Scholarships

The University of Hartford recognizes that many families may need assistance to meet the cost of a private, independent college education. For students who do not meet the criteria required for academic scholarships, the University of Hartford awards Merit Scholarships and Alumni Grants.

Merit Scholarship values range from $11,000 to $13,000 per year and Alumni Grant values range up to $11,000 per year. Both awards are made to incoming full-time students based on a review of the student's admission application, scholastic performance, resident/commuter status, and anticipated success at the University.

Alumni Grant values range up to $11,000 per year and are made available to incoming full-time students based on a review of the student's admission application, scholastic performance, resident/commuter status, and the availability of university financial assistance funds.
Merit Scholarships and Alumni Grants Guidelines:

These awards are renewable (up to an aggregate total of four years), provided the student maintains continuous full-time status and satisfactory academic progress as defined by his/her school or college of the University. Failure to meet renewal criteria will result in the loss of the Merit Scholarship or Alumni Grant.
If the student does not maintain satisfactory academic progress, he/she will forfeit the Merit Scholarship or Alumni Grant for the remainder of enrollment at the University.

The Merit Scholarship or Alumni Grant will not be reinstated should the student regain satisfactory academic progress at a later date.

Merit Scholarship and Alumni Grants may not be combined with any other non-need based award from the University of Hartford, but may be combined with need-based financial assistance funds.

Merit Scholarship and Alumni Grants may not be combined with any other non need-based scholarships or grants.
