Marlet Chapter IODE Scholarship in Business

The National Chapter of Canada IODE initiatedWar Memorial Doctoral Scholarships in 1918 to commemorate Canadians who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom. Initially, bursaries were granted to children of men and women who lost their lives or who were permanently disabled while fighting for Canada.

Since the first scholarships were awarded in 1921, IODE War Memorial Scholars have made important contributions to Canada and the world in medicine, science, business, politics and academia.

Today, applicants are judged on academic excellence, potential and volunteerism. Candidates must be Canadian citizens and in at least their second year of a doctoral program at a Canadian or Commonwealth university. In honour of the 100th anniversary of the initiation of these prestigious scholarships in 2018, the scholarships are valued at $20,000 for the 2018-2019 academic year only. A maximum of three scholarships will be offered.

Founded in 1900, IODE Canada is a national women’s organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals through education support, community service and citizenship programs.

The following information must be submitted:

• Completed and signed Letter of Intent and Application form.
• Statement of research topic and reasons for its
•  importance (250 words or less) and working title.
• Summary of graduate work completed and in progress
•  including reasons for choice of university (250 words or less).
• Future plans and statement of career goals (250 words or less).
• List of post-secondary awards received including
•  the value and dates held.
• Complete bibliographic list of publications / research.
•  Please indicate peer reviewed publications.
• List of extra-curricular interests, including current
•  volunteer activities.
• List of other scholarships for which you are applying.
• Certified copies of academic transcripts (undergraduate
• and graduate) must be submitted directly by the Registrar
