SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE REPORT 2016

We are pleased with the response to our Scholarship Campaign, this year seeing the largest number of applications, and encourage all member companies to watch for the 2017 applications.

Criteria for Scholarships

Please ensure that employees of your company are informed of the availability of the HCANL Scholarship Awards for 2017 as outlined below.

Two Scholarships (“A” and “B”) each valued at $1,000.00, will be awarded again this year to a student enrolled in a post-secondary program.  The applicant must be a son or daughter of an employee or owner of a member firm in good standing with the Association and have graduated from high school in the current year.

HOW TO APPLY

Application forms are available by download from below or by contacting Lorraine – Tel: 709 364-8811.  Complete the application form and have it signed by the General Manager or owner of the company.  Send completed form to Heavy Civil Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, Attention: Lorraine Richards.  The envelope must be clearly marked, Tender for HCANL Scholarship “A” or Tender for HCANL Scholarship “B” (Only One application per envelope).

SELECTION FOR SCHOLARSHIP “A”

Selection of the Scholarship “A” recipient will be based on an average of the applicant’s final marks obtained in Level 3 high school (3000 level courses).  The average of the six best marks including English and Math will determine the winner.

SELECTION FOR SCHOLARSHIP “B”

Selection of the Scholarship “B” recipient will be based mainly on need.  The average of the best six marks (3000 level courses) including English and Math as well as verifiable financial and other needs will be considered.  The final selection will be made on a subjective basis by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the Board of Directors of our Association.
