Eligibility

Open to students entering or continuing studies in a Master's or Doctoral program whose thesis research contributes to the development of agriculture in Saskatchewan as determined by the Award Committee.

Only students entering their first, second or third year of graduate study (Master's or Doctoral) are eligible to apply for the Harvey Graduate Scholarship. Students entering their fourth year of studies are not eligible for this award.

Master’s students are eligible to hold up to a maximum of two years of the Harvey scholarship in the first three years of their graduate program. Master’s students cannot hold this scholarship beyond the 36th month of their graduate program.

  1. In or entering first year of Master’s - 2 years of funding
  2. In or entering second year of Master’s - 1 year of funding for year 2 and 3
  3. In or entering third year of Master’s - 1 year only for year 3
  4. In or entering fourth year of Master’s - not eligible

PhD students are eligible to hold up to a maximum of three years of the Harvey scholarship funding in the first four years of their program. PhD students cannot hold this scholarship beyond the 48th month of their graduate program.

  1. In or entering first year of PhD - 3 years of funding
  2. In or entering second year of PhD - 1 year of funding for year 2, 3 and 4
  3. In or entering third year of PhD - 1 year for year 3 and 4
  4. In or entering fourth year of PhD - 1 year for year 4
  5. In or entering fifth year of PhD - not eligible

Students applying must have a minimum grade point average of 80%.
This award is renewable if eligibility requirements are met.

Apply

Application package:

  • A cover letter from the applicant (include your student number)
  • An outline of no more than 500 words describing the proposed research program
  •  A list of your publications and presentations
  • One letter of recommendation from your thesis supervisor or an individual familiar with the student’s academic work
  • Photocopies of your transcripts from all secondary institutions attended, other than the University of Saskatchewan
