RJ Young Scholarship

RJ Young Scholarship

1. General

The RJ Young (Richard James Young) Scholarships are provided to Federation University Australia (FedUni) students under the Public Trustee of South Australia to promote success within the TAFE sector. Scholarships are awarded annually by the Trustee on recommendations from the selection panel chaired by the Manager Scholarships, Bursaries and Grants, FedUni. The scholarships are valid for 12 months and consist of eight (8) scholarships each to the value of $4,000 per annum.

2. Eligibility

Students must be enrolled either full-time or part-time (pro rata) at FedUni, in either a Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma course, delivered in Ballarat for the 2017 academic year. Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply.

3. Selection criteria and process

Applications will be assessed by a selection panel against the following criteria:

  • KickStart registration;
  • Additional Information provided;
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are employees or children of employees of Pasminco Port Pirie Smelter (formally Broken Hill Associated Smelters).

FedUni may ask the student to provide evidence for the claims they make. Ensure all statements are accurate.

The Scholarship is paid in two instalments:

  • First payment is made after Census date (31/03/17) when FedUni has confirmed the student’s enrolment and commencement of study; and
  • Second and final payment is made after Census date (31/08/17) subject to ongoing eligibility and satisfactory academic performance. Should performance not be satisfactory (at the discretion of FedUni) the scholarship may be terminated prior to the expiration of the period for which the scholarship is granted. Should a scholarship recipient withdraw or defer their studies the scholarship will be terminated.

4. Review of decision

Students who wish to enquire about the outcome of the selection process should direct their concerns to the Manager, Scholarships, Bursaries and Grants via email at scholarships@federation.edu.au.
