W.C. Parker Diversity Scholarship

The University of Kentucky has a mission and commitment to aggressively recruit and retain students from all segments of society, including African American, American Indian, Asian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and Alaskan Native students. Factors which are considered in the holistic evaluation of William C. Parker scholarship applications include test scores, grades, an essay, leadership experience, extracurricular activities, awards and recognition, community service, and contribution to diversity. Awards will be based on the applicants ranking within the competitive pool, with values ranging from $5,000 to $15,000. Students may receive only one award through the William C. Parker Scholarship Program.
To apply, incoming freshmen students must complete the William C. Parker Scholarship section of the Undergraduate Admission application by December 1, 2014, and submit the required essay on how the student will contribute to diversity at the University of Kentucky. In addition, applicants applying for this program must have a high school transcript with qualifying unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale, on file with the Office of Undergraduate Admission by December 1, 2014.
Unfortunately, a William C. Parker scholarship will not be offered to every excellent student who meets the requirements and applies. However, we assure each applicant that his or her application will receive consideration and fair treatment in what is a very competitive process.
