The Presidential Scholarship

UB's top entering freshmen may be awarded Presidential Scholarships. This scholarship covers full tuition, fees, housing, board and books for four years of undergraduate study. Students who receive Presidential Scholarships are automatically admitted to the Honors College and must maintain good standing within that program to keep their scholarships.

Eligibility criteria

• Open to qualified incoming freshman (first-year) students who have no course work or credits completed at a postsecondary institution
• Available to students initially enrolling in the fall semester
• Most scholarship recipients have a high school average of at least 95 percent or an A average (or the equivalent).
• Most scholarship recipients have an SAT (Critical Reading and Math) test score of at least 1470 or an ACT Composite test score of at least 33.

Application and review process

• A separate scholarship application form is required.
• Contact the Honors College to request a scholarship application.
• An on-campus interview may be required.

Scholarships are awarded using a holistic review process. While GPA and test scores are the most important criteria, they are not the only criteria considered. Factors such as SAT II subject test scores, Advanced Placement scores, extracurricular activities and leadership skills may be taken into consideration.

Deadlines

Presidential Scholarship applications are typically reviewed in late December and early January. You must be accepted to UB before you will be considered for the Presidential Scholarship.
