The Waikato MBM Scholarship

  • Two “living allowance” scholarships, each worth $2,500, will be awarded to international
  • participants who have the highest GPA half way through the programme. In the event of three
  • or more participants attaining the same GPA, the scholarship will be divided equally.
  • Two further scholarships, each worth $2,500 will be awarded to participants (either international
  • or domestic) who have the highest GPA overall, half way through the programme. In the event
  • of three or more participants attaining the same GPA, the scholarship will be divided equally.
  • The successful candidates will be enrolled in full-time study for the duration of the progamme
  • and be expected to complete the programme. If the recipient does not complete the programme
  • of study they will be liable to refund the scholarship amount.
  • There is no application process for this Scholarship – all participants enrolled full-time will be
  • eligible for consideration by the Selection Panel. Please note that students already in receipt
  • of an NZAID Scholarship are not eligible for this award.
  • The Scholarship will be awarded on the recommendation of a Selection Panel which will include
  • the Associate Dean Academic and the Associate Dean Enterprise of the Waikato Management
  • School, or their nominees.
  • Successful candidates will be required to attend an interview with the Associate Dean
  • Enterprise (or nominee) and will be advised in writing of the outcome.
  • The offer of a Scholarship must be accepted by the date indicated in the letter of offer. If any
  • candidate declines the Scholarship or does not take it up, the Selection Panel may offer the Scholarship to another candidate.
  • A candidate will only be eligible to be formally awarded the Scholarship if he/she enrols at the
  • University of Waikato in the year of tenure and complies with any other specific requirements of the Scholarship.
  • The Scholarships Committee may terminate a Scholarship at any time and recoup any funds
  • awarded, if it is satisfied that the holder is not following the required programme or is not
  • otherwise complying with the conditions governing the Scholarship. The holder of a Scholarship
  • shall have the right to appeal to the Academic Board against any decision to terminate the award.
