Building Stronger Universities (BSU) scholarships at Aarhus University

Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC) on behalf of Danida, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Denmark, calls for applications for MSc Scholarships under the Building Stronger Universities programme.

The aim of the BSU scholarship programme is to provide talented students from South partner universities with the opportunity to obtain a Master's degree from a Danish university in order to contribute to the development of their countries. In addition to their professional studies, it is expected that the students will obtain good knowledge of the Danish society, culture and values as well as the opportunity to networking with Danish students, companies and organisations.

Bachelor’s graduates from the following universities are eligible to apply:

  • Ghana: University of Ghana and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
  • Tanzania: Sokoine University of Agriculture, Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College, and State University of Zanzibar
  • Uganda: Gulu University
  • Nepal: Kathmandu University
  • The following English-taught Master’s programmes at Aarhus University with commencement of studies in August/September 2015 are included in the programme:
  • Agro-environmental Management (only BSU applicants) - the application system opens for application to this programme on 6 January 2015
  • Anthropology of Education and Globalisation (only BSU applicants) - the application system opens for application to this programme during December 2014
  • Human Security (only BSU applicants) - the application system opens for application to this programme during December 2014

When creating your application in the application system, select the options with the appendix "(only BSU applicants)" to apply for a scholarship.

Prior to applying for admission, applicants are kindly asked to make themselves acquainted with the specific admission requirements for the Master’s degree programmes they wish to apply for. Please consult the Master's student guide.

Your application will be considered a scholarship application. Qualified applicants who are not selected for a scholarship will not be offered admission to Aarhus University.

The applications will be assessed on the same criteria as any other application to the programme

In order to be awarded a scholarship from DFC, the language test has to be received by Aarhus University no later than 1 June 2015.

Award of a scholarship:

The scholarships will be awarded on a strictly competitive basis with focus on grades and level of English. The award of scholarships is carried out according to the following criteria:

1) The grants are awarded according to the best possible allocation among BSU countries, BSU universities and gender.

2) Students under the age of 30 are given priority.

3) Grants will be allocated, if possible, between the participating Danish universities in proportion to their size and with a minimum of 2 candidates in each of the provincial towns.

4) Applicants who do not already have a Master’s degree will be given priority.

The successful applicants will be offered a scholarship which will cover tuition fee, travel costs, field work cost in home country, accommodation and allowances during the study period.

Please take note that accommodation and allowance for spouse and children are not included in the Programme.

DFC will cover the expenses in connection with language test and application fee,if the applicant is awarded a scholarship.

DFC will be responsible for the residence permit application process, travel arrangements, and accommodation while in Denmark, payment of allowances, insurances, etc.
