The Rita Love Memorial Bursary in Business was established in her memory by her estate and initiated by the executor of her estate, Mr. Derrick Hutchens. Mrs. Love was born in Newfoundland and moved away to the United States when she was a teenager but visited frequently and returned to live here several decades later. Though she spent most of her adult life living in the United States of America she always maintained strong connections to Newfoundland and Labrador. Valued at a portion of the income on the endowment, the bursary will be awarded to an undergraduate student with a focus on finance or investment in the Faculty of Business Administration. The recipient must be beyond first year and from Newfoundland and Labrador. The student will have demonstrated financial need, and meet the minimum academic requirements for a bursary as outlined by Memorial University of Newfoundland. Preference will be given to a student who is not in receipt of another scholarship, bursary or award at the time of the awarding of this bursary. It will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships, Bursaries and Awards upon the recommendation of the Dean, Faculty of Business Administration.
