Candidates must be students in their final year of study in secondary school who are or will be seeking admission into their first year of undergraduate study at York University in any discipline. Candidates must possess a minimum admission average of 90 per cent or equivalent and will have other accomplishments such a leadership in community service, achievement in arts or sports, or excellence in other areas of individual endeavour which demonstrate the wholeness of the person and grace of character. This award is renewed on the basis of continued high academic standing (minimum grade point average of 7.80). As a Governors Award of Distinction, the John S. Proctor Entrance Scholarship is one of York University's most significant and prestigious awards. Named for the former Chancellor and Chair of the University's Board of Governors and also commemorating the University 25th anniversary, this scholarship has been made possible by the generosity of past and present members of the Board.
