Corrosion inhibition

Corrosion inhibition

This multi-disciplinary PhD research project at Curtin Corrosion Engineering Industry Centre aims to develop understanding on the influence of bacteria and mineral deposits on the corrosion of low and high-alloy steels. The project includes mechanistic studies on corrosion inhibition using conventional and newly developed organic compounds. The research methodology involves application of electrochemical and analytical methods, such as scanning electron microscopy, in combination with microbiological testing. The outcomes of the project will be directly applicable to the oil and gas industry.

This project involves collaboration with Deakin University Australia (Institute for Frontier Materials) and the PhD candidate will conduct research through a study - stay at Deakin University during the course of the PhD.
