Alfred Deakin Scholarships

Description: 

  • The Alfred Deakin Scholarships in Law were introduced in 2001, the centenary of Australian Federation. Alfred Deakin, after whom the University is named, was Australia's second Prime Minister and the first Attorney General. These scholarships will be awarded to high-achieving students admitted to the Bachelor of Laws, as a single degree or law component when combined with another degree.

Annual Comment:  

  • The scholarships are valued at $2,800 per year. Tenure is 4 years for a single degree and 5 years for a combined degree. Recipients also receive the support of an academic mentor from the Law School.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens or holders of a permanent humanitarian visa, who are commencing full-time study in a single or combined law course in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP). Selection is based on academic merit, evidenced by the achieved ATAR. Tenure is dependent on academic performance.
