  • The Master's Degree in Molecular Therapy, with specialisation in the Biomedical Sciences, promotes advanced understanding of the molecular basis of disease and the latest research/laboratory developments and clinical applications of molecular diagnostics and therapies, inherently resulting from the advancement of science in molecular pathology.
  • It is a field in continual progression, closely linked to the development of Medicine, Cellular and Molecular Medicine, and personalised therapies.
  • Projects promising increased quality of life and improved disease management include: the design of pharmaceutical drugs for specific interference with metabolic pathways or molecular abnormalities that are central to the development, growth and spread of particular cancers; the identification of the genetic characteristics of a tumour, allowing the prediction of a response to a particular therapy or therapeutic agent; the development of molecular diagnostic tests for identifying diseases or the determination of a susceptibility gene for its development; and lastly, the development of vaccines for newly emerging diseases.
