Getting a call from IIMs or other Management Institutes in India completely depends on certain attributes, which are as follow – 

  • Overall percentile score of CAT
  • Overall CAT Score
  • Academic Record and Work Profile of the candidates
  • Work Experience

How will I get a call from Management Institutes

In the last week of January 2017, the IIMs are required to issue the first shortlist furnishing the names of the candidates who will be called for required the further selection process. This first shortlist will be prepared on the basis of CAT score/percentile and applicants profile. Individual admission criteria have been issued by each IIM and they will follow the same for short- listing the candidates for further process. The competitor's performance in CAT 2018 will play an important role in the short- listing process.

A balanced high percentile is required for being short- listed. Along with the overall percentile, the competitors will also require high percentile over all the 3 sections. For the new IIMs, the sectional cutoff percentiles is required to be around 85+ and 90+ for the current ones. So it means that an applicant who scores in totality around 96 percentile with 90 in DI and LR, 94 in Quant and 86 in Verbal may get a call from IIMs. However, a competitor with a general score of 99 percentile getting 97 in Quant however 78 in Verbal would miss out a great opportunity of the call. The list of short- listed applicants will be made available on the respective official sites of IIMs.

Important Documents Required for IIM Selection

In case the applicant gets a call from IIM, he/she will be required to outfit the accompanying following documents for the purpose of eligibility verification

Mark sheets and Degree certificates - Original mark sheets alongside with attested copies of the same.

If having a Reservation Category, then certificates supporting the same - Original copy must be brought for furnishing and a photocopy of the same must be submitted there.

Candidates still pursuing last year of graduation - Need to submit an attested copy of the original certificate got from concerned authority determining the fulfillment of required marks.
