CAT 2017: Students who score 80 percentile can apply at IIM Ahmedabad

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA)'s admission criteria for PGP 2018-2020 batch has come as a good news for all the CAT 2017 aspirants.

Aspiring candidates, who have been worried over the eligibility to apply in IIMA can heave a sigh of relief as the minimum cut-off overall percentile for preliminary screening has been fixed to 80 for 2018-2020 batch.

The institute has listed the criteria for admission to its PGP course mentioning in detail the selection process.

IIMA selection is a two-step process. In the first stage, candidates are qualified for Personal Interview (PI) and Academic Writing Test (AWT) from among the candidates who have a valid CAT-2017 score.

Candidates who shall have achieved marks above the following minimum cut-off in the sectional-percentile ranks and overall percentile rank along with a positive raw score in all the sections of CAT 2017, shall have the chance of moving ahead in the selection process.

Further, an applicant’s Application Rating will be taken into consideration. Application rating is the sum total of a candidate’s scores in Class X, XII and Graduation.

AC-1: Medicine and Surgery based subjects

AC-2: Selected Professional Degrees (Chartered Accountancy, Cost and Works Accountancy, Company Secretaryship)

AC-3: All Finance and Management Related Degrees, Commerce, Economics

AC-4: Technology and Architecture related Areas, Engineering, IT, All Computer Applications

AC5: Medicine and Surgery, All Science and Agriculture related Areas, other than Agricultural Engineering

AC-6: All Arts/Humanities Related Degrees, Design, Education, Fashion Technology, Law and Rural Studies

AC-7: Any other discipline not mentioned in AC-1 to AC-6.

Final shortlisting for Personal Interviews (PI) and Academic Writing Tests (AWT) will be carried out in two stages.

Stage 1: Selection of excellent performers across various disciplines.

Stage 2: Remaining number of candidates to be shortlisted for AWT & PIs.

The AWT and PIs will be conducted in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi/NCR. Candidates shortlisted for AWT & PI will be informed by post by second week of January 2018. The list of selected candidates and other details will also be displayed on the official website.

The cut-offs mentioned here are based on CAT 2016 data. The institute may change the cut-offs in the light of CAT-2017 data.
