  • BSc in Physics

  • Physics teaches about natural processes and it is one of the exact natural sciences. Natural processes are captured experimentally by quantitative measurement and are represented mathematically in the form of general laws.

In the Bachelor’s physics program, you will acquire a fundamental subject knowledge of physics as well as knowledge of mathematics and chemistry. At the same time, you also learn very generally analytical skills, strategic thinking, independent scientific work and techniques for presenting your work. This endows students with the ability to systematically penetrate all kinds of problems and find ways of solving them.

  • Have you always been fascinated by lasers, quarks, quantum computers and black holes? Are math and physics your favorite subjects ? Then you are right with us. The course provides you with basic specialist knowledge of physics as well as knowledge in the field of mathematics and chemistry . In addition, you will learn the analytical skills and strategic thinking to systematically penetrate various types of problems and to develop new solutions.

If you have less than 12 points in mathematics or did not have physics up to high school, you should definitely attend the preparatory courses of the MINT college to prepare for your studies. Our tip - put your knowledge of math and physics to the test:

  • The University of Stuttgart is a  technical university.  In alliance with the other  TU9 universities  , it is one of the  leading technical universities in Germany.  Physics at the University of Stuttgart is therefore dedicated to both basic research and application-oriented research in the areas of solid-state physics, atomic and quantum optics, soft matter physics, highly correlated many-particle systems, physical modeling and numerical simulation. There is also a special focus on  emerging quantum technologies  and in the field of  photonics . There is also close cooperation with the two  physical Max Planck Institutes in Stuttgart.

  • Many doors are open to physicists, including in the following professional fields:

  • Research and teaching (universities, government research institutions)
  • High-tech industry (electronics, semiconductor and sensor technology)
  • Optical technologies (laser, biophotonics, communication technology)
  • Medical technology (imaging processes, nuclear medicine)
  • Information technology (software and hardware development)
  • Consulting, banks, insurance (risk management, financial analysis)
  • There are no admission restrictions (NC) for studying physics . The application deadline is September 15th of each year . The following applies to physics as a minor subject: application deadline until July 15 if combined with a subject with restricted admission; until September 15 when combined with an admission-free subject. You can find more information on our application page.
