  • BSc in Civil Engineering

  • Civil engineers erect residential buildings, industrial buildings or trade fair and sports centers. You plan water and sewage systems that enable us, for example, to enjoy modern living comfort. The tunnels and bridges they create overcome natural boundaries. Traffic systems connect districts, regions and entire continents. The civil engineering course is as varied as these areas of responsibility.
  • An interest and talent for mathematics and physics are essential requirements for your studies. Spatial imagination is also an advantage. If you have less than 10 points in mathematics and your Abitur grade is worse than 2.5, we recommend the offers of our MINT-Kolleg as preparation for your studies. We would particularly like to recommend the mathematics preliminary course to you .

At the university you will study “fundamentals” and immerse yourself in the theory of civil engineering: You will not only learn how to use a formula, but also how to derive the formula yourself. This enables you to solve complex tasks in practice and research and to develop new areas of knowledge independently .

  • The “Stuttgart School” : This stands for close cooperation between civil engineering and architecture. For example, our students have the opportunity to work on a project together with architecture students.
  • Outstanding excellence:  The University of Stuttgart was named the best German university for civil engineering in the  Shanghai Academic Ranking 2018  and is one of the 20 best university departments in civil engineering worldwide.
  • Holistic teaching:  We have the “material teaching”, in which we deal with the holistic view of buildings instead of looking at individual materials (e.g. wood or steel construction) in isolation.
  • With the bachelor's degree, you are qualified to work and can, for example, work for construction companies, engineering offices or public institutions such as municipal utilities and civil engineering offices. There you build training and company buildings, bridges, road networks or airports or oversee projects for the supply of drinking water and disposal of wastewater.

With the bachelor's degree, you also have the admission requirements for the master’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Stuttgart (duration: 4 semesters, degree: Master of Science).

Entry Requirement

  • Applicant must be high school passed.
