  • The master's program in Geoinformatics introduces scientific work, taking into account the English language as a scientific language in geoinformatics.
  • The aim of this course is the intelligent further processing of geographic information in the context of a geographic question.
  • In addition to the compulsory modules, a module for remote sensing is imported from the master's in climate and environmental sciences, and a module with elective courses are offered.
  • The knowledge and skills acquired should then be used in projects before the degree is completed with a scientific master's thesis.
  • Acquisition of in-depth competence in the entire field of geographic data storage, processing, analysis and visualization, as the functional analog and digital modeling of geospatial information using graphic and graphic-related means of expression.
  • Knowledge of theories, methods and procedures of modern geoinformatics and their further development in the context of research projects where these can be applied professionally and economically.
  • Acquisition of the ability to collect, model, manage, analyze and visualize suitable geodata with spatial, factual and temporal reference.
  • Learning to use databases and geographic information systems as well as rule-based graphic data processing
  • Acquiring the ability to critically deal with the social points of contact and implications of the various techniques and methods for processing and visualizing geodata.
  • The master's degree in "Geoinformatics" aims at a professional behavior based on geoinformatics as an independent science with its own research and knowledge object, but also with close connections to geoscientific, information and communication science related disciplines, through skills for systematic analysis and synthesis is shaped from the individual to the whole.
  • Training in a sense of responsibility and communication skills (e.g. through student presentations) in order to classify social processes critically and further develop professional and personal skills in order to take on future research and development tasks.
