  • The Mechanical Engineering program offers a comprehensive training that will allow you to master mathematical concepts and basic science notions relating to engineering as well as notions relating to the sciences and technologies of mechanical engineering. You will learn to design equipment and processes. You will familiarize yourself with the different fields of mechanical engineering such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine elements, vibration dynamics, mechanical manufacturing, production and robotics.
  • Love to design and create. Have a passion for problem solving. Like to take up challenges. Enjoy teamwork. Have an innovative mind and be resourceful. Be able to communicate and know how to listen.
  • Your duties may be very diverse: project study, design of products and systems integrating electronics and IT with mechanics, research and development, organization of work, production and maintenance, administration and management of 'factory. In design, you could be responsible for the design or production of mechanical systems as diverse as machines, vehicles, medical equipment, stage and entertainment equipment, musical instruments, sporting goods and many more. Factories and manufacturers could call on your services in the fields of steel, mining, petroleum, communications, paper, plastics, agrifood or natural gas. The placement rate for graduates of this program is excellent.

    This diploma gives access to the Order of Engineers of Quebec (OIQ).

Application Process


  • Laval University or Université Laval is a French-language public university in Québec, Canada. It offers around 500 undergraduate and graduate programs. The university invites applications for Fall, Winter or Summer sessions.

    Since the medium of instruction here is French, one of the key admission requirements is fluency in the French language. The admissions process is also conducted in French.

  • Both UG and PG applicants are advised to apply through the university’s online application portal.
  • Applicants are required to submit 84 CAD as the application fee.

  • French Proficiency International Students

    As a part of their admission process, non-Francophone applicants (someone whose education was in a language other than French) must take a French proficiency test - Test de français international (TFI).

    The minimally required level of French proficiency varies from program to program. The TFI scores will determine whether the applicant is required to take French language classes in addition to other qualifying courses. The university offers French-language services to its students.
