  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering

  • Electrical engineering is present everywhere in industry as well as in everyday life thanks to its dazzling developments in recent years. The applications of electrical engineering are numerous, from sophisticated communication systems to renewable energy plants or automated manufacturing plants. In everyday life, electrical engineering contributes to the improvement of domestic comfort, to the development of leisure equipment or to the advancement of modern medicine. As an electrical engineer, you will directly contribute to the development of the technological society of the future.
  • This program will provide you with comprehensive training as a specialist in the design and operation of electrical and electronic systems. You will acquire the theoretical knowledge necessary for the study and design of technological systems as well as the experimental working methods required by the engineering profession. You will also develop skills for teamwork and project management.

    The bachelor's degree in electrical engineering will allow you to adapt your study profile according to your preference for areas of specialization such as:

  • automation and industrial control,
  • the communications,
  • electrical energy,
  • computer systems,
  • microsystems,
  • photonics.
  • An innovative pedagogical approach in teaching design methodology has been implemented in four design courses over the four years of the baccalaureate.

  • Goals

    During his training, the student will learn to:

  • possess the conceptual and physical bases of the discipline of electrical engineering;  
  • know the technologies relevant to the various fields of application of electrical engineering;  
  • use the knowledge acquired for the design and construction of systems in the various fields of application of electrical engineering;  
  • acquire a scientific approach to problem solving;  
  • improve their ability to work in a team and communicate well;  
  • acquire the additional knowledge necessary for the work of an engineer;  
  • simultaneously carry out an approach that combines creativity, rigor and pragmatism;  
  • be aware of the social and economic repercussions of its interventions and take them into account;  
  • acquire a basic dexterity in the handling of devices and the assembly of devices and be able to supervise the technical staff responsible for them.

  • Applicant must be high school passed.

Application Process


  • Laval University or Université Laval is a French-language public university in Québec, Canada. It offers around 500 undergraduate and graduate programs. The university invites applications for Fall, Winter or Summer sessions.

    Since the medium of instruction here is French, one of the key admission requirements is fluency in the French language. The admissions process is also conducted in French.

  • Both UG and PG applicants are advised to apply through the university’s online application portal.
  • Applicants are required to submit 84 CAD as the application fee.
  • University has common application deadlines for UG and PG admissions.
  •  International applicants must provide the following documents at the time of admission:

  • French Proficiency International Students

    As a part of their admission process, non-Francophone applicants (someone whose education was in a language other than French) must take a French proficiency test - Test de français international (TFI).

    The minimally required level of French proficiency varies from program to program. The TFI scores will determine whether the applicant is required to take French language classes in addition to other qualifying courses. The university offers French-language services to its students.

    Laval University Graduate Admissions
