  • Diploma in Criminology

  • The Diploma in Criminology contains a core of method and theory courses that provides a foundation for more advanced study of crime and social responses to crime. Electives reflect the multidisciplinary nature of criminology. The required courses and electives afford students of criminology an opportunity to develop abstract logical thinking and critical understanding of the issues, arguments, and debates that shape the discipline's character and aims.

Choose from 21 departments and disciplines to develop a deep and holistic understanding of our world today—from anthropology, political science, and criminology to fine arts, English, and philosophy.

    Our arts students explore contemporary and interconnected social and cultural issues through the humanities, social sciences, and fine arts in experiential programs that include service and community-engaged learning, research projects, practicums, field schools, and co-op placements.   • Criminology is an exciting and expanding area of study! Concerns about public safety, crime, and social justice contribute to a strong demand for people knowledgeable in these areas. By studying criminology and justice, you will learn about the causes and prevention of crime and other social harms as well as explore possible solutions to these problems.

    The Criminology Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University offers multiple program options so you can choose a program that meets your individual needs. We offer excellent academic preparation, with small class sizes and well-qualified and dedicated instructors. Our degree has been carefully developed and reviewed by KPU’s internal committees, external consultants, including other universities and colleges, and approved by the BC provincial government.

Application Process

  • Students pursuing a diploma in Criminology must be admitted to the Faculty of Arts.
