BACHELOR OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

  • Algoma University’s first year is a pathway to Laurentian University’s Bachelor of Engineering program. The Engineering Pathway provides qualifying students access to the first year of study at Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, followed by a seamless transition to the second year of Engineering at Laurentian University in Sudbury in either Mechanical, Chemical, or Mining Engineering.

    Reactions, interactions, and creation – the science and study behind the building blocks of life. Chemical Engineering students learn about organic and inorganic chemistry, statistics, and chemical processes and reactions. They use creativity to solve issues related to processing, design, innovative products, research, and manufacturing. Chemical Engineers work in a wide variety of roles such as civil service, process engineering, entrepreneurship, management, manufacturing, research, and development, or move on to pursue graduate studies.

  • Algoma University and Laurentian University have partnered to facilitate a seamless transition for students who complete the first year at Algoma University to transfer directly to years two, three, and four in the Bharti School of Engineering at Laurentian University.

    The Engineering Pathway provides the opportunity for first-year students at Algoma U to study in areas such as mathematics, chemistry, and physics in courses that prepare them to enter the exciting world of Engineering. In year two, they will transfer directly to their second year of study in the Bharti School of Engineering at Laurentian University. Students choose their area of focus from three degrees: Chemical, Mechanical, or Mining

    Each program has a co-op option available to eligible students. Work term opportunities are available in numerous locations throughout Ontario and beyond. For students wishing to return to Sault Ste. Marie for work terms, co-op options in Sault Ste. Marie is available to a select number of students each year.

    Laurentian University has the highest post-graduation employment rate in Ontario at 95 percent, ensuring graduates are well-positioned for a successful transition to the workforce in a high-demand field.

    The Bachelor of Engineering program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.

Affiliated to the Laurentian University in Sudbury, Algoma University is a public institution established with a mission to give cross-cultural learning between Aboriginal & other communities in Northern Ontario. Currently, it has over 1500 students enrolled.

Programs offered by the Algoma University include more than 30 undergraduate majors and graduate certificates offered through three Faculties i.e Faculty of Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. It does not offer any graduate degree programs.

Algoma University has affiliations with AUCC and CBIE. The campus is flourished by international students from over 30 different countries, who make up to 27% of its student body.
