Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is the ability test which is being directed by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences every year for the applicants who wants to get admission in Tata Institute of Social Science. Tata Institute of Social Sciences is the first school of social work in India.

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) held a National Entrance Test (NET) exam known as TISSNET. The exam is held for all Masters programs presented in TISS campuses at Hyderabad, G-SET Ranchi, MHAT Calicut, Mumbai, IMHST Chennai, MHAT Calicut and Guwahati, Tuljapur.

Tata Institute of Social Science offers courses in the accompanying programs are M.A in Social Work, Master in Rural Development and Governance, M.A in Ecology, M.A in Social Work, Environment and Sustainable Development and Master of Library and Information Science. Admission to these courses is made through the TISS placement test score.

Eligibility

The eligibility norms are certain parameters decided by the Institute for admission to courses offered by them and the candidates must meet the same. The candidates applying for test must go through the eligibility criteria listed here below. They can be asked to furnish any documents/certificates in support of their eligibility as and when required. As already told, non-fulfilment of the TISSNET eligibility criteria 2017 will lead to disqualification of the candidate irrespective of the stage of admission.

The eligibility criteria of TISSNET 2017 is as follow –

  • The candidates should have a bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent from a recognized university.
  • The pattern of study for Bachelor’s degree should be under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern or any other pattern fulfilling the obligatory requirements of 15 years formal education.
  • At the time of applying, the candidates studying in 3 year degree programme should have passed in all the subjects from 1st to 4th semesters.
  • However, the candidates studying in a 4 year degree programme should have passed in all the subjects from 1st to 6th semester.
  • The candidates who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree examinations by June 10, 2017 will only be eligible to apply for the management programmes offered by TISS.
  • It must be noted that the candidate will be granted provisional admission till the time they won’t submit the mark sheet of their final year degree examination. This result must be submitted by the candidates before September 30, 2017. In case, such candidates will fail to submit the proof of passing their final exams, their provisional admission will be cancelled by the TISS.

The above listed TISSNET eligibility criteria 2017 must be met by all the TISSNET 2017 aspirants. However, TISS has prescribed differential eligibility norms for admission to various courses. So, along with the above-mentioned eligibility norms, the candidates must ensure that they fulfil those norms too.

Exam Pattern

TISS Mumbai, being the exam leading body has definite the exam structure and will set up the question paper as well. A year ago, the distribution of questions was changed. However, this year, no change has been made to the test pattern by TISS.

As already told, TISS National Entrance Test (TISSNET) is a computer based test, where all the applicants will be required to mark the appropriate answers utilizing the mouse. All the questions will be objective type and the applicants will be given 100 minutes to attempt 100 of such questions. The candidate’saptitude and skills will be tested across over 3 sections, to be specific, Analytical Ability; English Proficiency, General Knowledge; and General Knowledge.

There is no negative marking in the exam. For marking every correct answer, the candidates will be awarded with 1 mark each. In case, a candidate marks more than one answer for one question, then it will be treated as an incorrect answer.
