Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is the state level entrance examination of Karnataka state. This entrance test provides an opportunity to the candidates to take admission in engineering, pharmacy & other courses offered by the prestigious colleges of Karnataka.

KCET 2017 is the entrance test conducted to determine the merit for admission to professional courses including pharmacy, veterinary science and animal husbandry, agriculture, health sciences, health sciences, medical, engineering. Merit obtained in KCET is used for admission to the First year / Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka/ Private Aided / University / First semester of the full time courses for Government share of seats in Government.

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has invited applications from qualified candidates of Karnataka including the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri Migrants for registration to the Common Entrance Test to professional courses herein for the seats to be notified by the Government in the Professional Educational Institutions in the state of Karnataka.  To be eligible for courses offered by KEA, the candidates must be a citizen of India and satisfy any one of the eligibility conditions hosted on the KEA Website 

Eligibility

Karnataka CET (KCET) Eligibility Criteria 2017 mention specific conditions which applicants need to fulfill for seeking admission to various participating institutes in Karnataka under KCET 2017. KCET 2017 is scheduled to take place on May 2 and 3 for admission to different engineering branches in various institutes of the state. KCET Eligibility criteria 2017 include the academic qualification, domicile, category to which the candidate belongs, nationality, etc.

Nationality Eligibility Criteria:

Those of you from the Karnataka as well as Jammu Kashmir and NRI applicants can apply for the exam and the NRI Applicants require the permission of Medical/Dental Council of India. Candidate must possess AADHAR card.

Age Limit:

You have to be 17 years until December 31 of the academic year and special category applicants would get age relaxation of 3 to 4 years.

Education Qualification:

  • Applicants must have cleared their Class 12 examination or an equivalent exam with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects.
  • Applicants must have studied English as one of the languages.
  • The applicants need to score at least 45 per cent marks in the qualifying examination.
  • If a candidate scores less marks in Chemistry than the required aggregate, then in that case, marks scored by the candidate in biology, biotechnology, computer science, will be taken into account. 
  • Those applicants who belong to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe or Schedule Caste category Category-I and OBC (2A, 2B, 3A and 3B) category have to secure at least 40 per cent marks to be eligible to take up KCET 2017.  
  • Those applicants who are waiting for the results of the qualifying examinations are also eligible to take up KCET 2017.

KCET 2017 Exam Pattern gives complete detail about the pattern of the Common Entrance Test to be conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Every student who appeared in the entrance exam is advised to be well familiar with the Exam Pattern of KCET 2017. It will help applicants to prepare in a more effective way for the examination.

As per reports, KCET 2017 was conducted in both English and Kannada language.

KCET 2017 Exam Pattern

It is advisable to every candidate of KCET 2017 to have an understanding of the pattern of the exam. Knowing the pattern of the exam will help applicants to clear their doubt and strategize a proper plan for the Common Entrance Test. The details of KCET 2017 Exam Pattern are as follows:

Type of Questions: The paper will consist objective type multiple choice questions. Each question will have four options out of which only one response will be correct.

Total Number of Papers: Applicants have to appear in the following papers which will be held on two separate days:

  • Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Mathematics/Biology

Mode of Examination: The entrance exam will be conducted in the offline mode, i.e. it will be a pen and paper based examination.

Marking Scheme: Each question will carry 1 mark. There is no negative marking for incorrect answer.

Duration: A total time period of 1 hour 20 minutes will be given to complete each paper.

Applicants from Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga have to appear in the Kannada language test. It will be conducted by KEA only in Bangalore. The language exam will be a pen and paper based examination which will be of 50 marks. The exam schedule is as follow:

Exam Test Centers

The exam centres of Karnataka CET 2017 are the venues where the examination, KCET 2017 will take place.  Candidates will be assigned the examination centre of Karnataka CET 2017 depending upon the choice of the city made by them. Candidates have to fill the preference of the city from where they wish to take KCET 2017. Those candidates who are claiming eligibility under Horanadu & Gadinadu Kannadiga will have to appear for KCET - 2017 at a test centre located only in Bangalore. Request with regard to change of the examination centre will not be entertained after its final submission.
