ABOUT CMAT

CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) is a national level entrance examination held by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) on the online mode for admission to PGDM and MBA programs across its participating establishments.The CMAT is a three hour computer based online test which is held in a single session to evaluate the applicant's capacity across different sections. There were 100 questions which are divided into 4 sections like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. According to the experts, CMAT is an easy to moderate difficulty level test with many easy questions across sections.

This test facilitates Institutions to choose appropriate graduate candidates for admission in all Management programs.

CMAT 2017 scores are accepted by around 1000 B-schools approved by AICTE. Candidates can check all about CMAT 2017 on the official website of CMAT such as application form, dates, eligibility criteria, registration process, admit card, exam pattern, result and participating institutes.

DTE Maharashtra has announced, CMAT as mandatory for student under AI (All India) quota for admissions to Maharashtra colleges.

CMAT was earlier held twice in a year – February and September. It will now be held once a year.

Eligibility

AICTE has given the qualification criteria of CMAT 2017. The criteria are: 

  • Applicants must be resident of India 
  • Indian graduate from a recognized college/university can apply for the test (minimum 50% for General applicants and SC/ST class must have a minimum 45% marks at their graduation level) 
  • Last year graduate applicants whose result will be announced before commencement of admission for academic year 2017-18 can also apply for the test 
  • Final year graduation students can also apply for CMAT
  • There is no age limit for appearing in CMAT.

  • The duration of the test is 3 hours (180 minutes) and will be held in a single session.
  • It is a computer based and the applicant will be allotted a computer at the test venue.
  • 100 objective type questions will be asked from 4 areas, wherein the applicants will be given with 4 choices to answer a single question. Out of these 4 given options, they should mark one response.
  • The test will be marked out of a total of 400 marks; each section will have 25 questions conveying 100 marks each. For each right answer marked, 4 marks will be granted however for each wrong answer marked, 1 mark will be deducted.
