Few Months are remaining for XAT 2018. XAT 2018 will be conducted on 7th January 2018. It is an online exam of 210 minutes. There are 3 sections in paper1 and 2 sections in paper2. GST Reforms and impact on Indian Economy:

The biggest change in the year of 2017 is the inclusion of Goods and Services Tax which has great impact on Indian economy. This tax is being implemented on almost every product. Basically this tax was included to reduce the complex structure of other taxes. All the XAT applicants start preparing on this topic as it is one of the important changes in our country. 

Bad bank and NPA Issue

Our Indian bank is having its bad time.  Debt of approx 1o lakh crore is on Indian bank and still they are giving loans at a very high rate. To rescue bank from the risk of NPAs Finance ministry and Reserve Bank of India have passed a proposal of BAD BANK which will absorb all the bad loans and thus will clear the banking system but NITI Aayog vice chairman Arvind Panagariya is against this. Cashless Economy:

India is becoming Cashless. It seems quite unreal right but now with the use of  Banking cards, USSD, AEPS, UPI, Mobile Wallets, Banks Pre-Paid Cards, Point of Sale, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Micro ATM’s. Launch of Google Tez:

Google has introduced its new app called as mobile wallet app known as Tez. It offers B2B feature known as “Tez for business” which enables vendors to spread their business using Tez application just like BHIM, Paytm and Freecharge etc.

The Wally J. Campbell Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship has been established in memory of Professor W. J. Campbell who helped establish the engineering program at Memorial University of Newfoundland and taught in the program until 1995 when he retired. The scholarship, one or more, is valued at a minimum of $500.00 and will be awarded to a student entering term three who has completed all elements of the program prior to Term 3. UNBC Scholars

The UNBC Scholars program recognizes Grade 11 students in Northern BC and Yukon for outstanding academic achievement.

The scholarship will take the form of a waiver of full tuition to a maximum of 120 credits (or the number of credits required for a bachelor's degree). Students do not apply to be UNBC Scholars. Rather, at the start of their Grade 12 year, each high school in Northern BC and Yukon (see following list) will indicate the student with the highest grade point average based on the student's Grade 11 marks (minimum 80%). The GPA will be calculated on the basis of the highest grade received in English 11 or 12 or English First Peoples 11 or 12, and the highest grade received in Math 11 or 12, and the next four highest marks in Grade 11 courses (to include three academic courses and one elective).


The recipients must:

  • Meet UNBC Admission requirements (refer to the academic calendar for details),
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident at the time of nomination,
  • Maintain at least an 80% average in Grade 12,
  • Register as a full-time student at UNBC for the academic year immediately following the nomination,
  • Students must register in 24 credit hours per academic year to keep their UNBC Scholar eligibility,
  • Students must be registered in 12 credit hours in each of the September and January semesters.
