Confused!! What to do after BTech?

surely, you always wanted to know what can be done after b.tech to explore more job opportunities in your life. in india you are not judged on the basis of degree that you possess. but, you are judged by what you do after completing your education. the society here is not concerned with the knowledge that you earned but they are much interested in job and salary that you get after your education.

these are top 10 things you can do after your b.tech degree.

what have you decided to do next? is it mba? or m.tech? or a job? even if you've already selected one thing, it's sensible to explore the other choices lying ahead of you. usually we indians have a tendency to keep silent and let things happen solely to cry later concerning the mistakes we make.

before we start exploring the options available, let us keep three thing fundas in mind:

  • don’t leave any option unexplored as u found it to be too mediocre. you should just follow your heart.

  • everybody isn’t born to become a graduate, have a good degree or get a high paying job. if people like gandhi, apj abdul kalam thought the same way the world would not have been the same way it is now.

  • it's fine if many people like you are preparing for the same entrance exam as you, including your friends! if you believe in yourself then prepare the exam, and trust me you can.

3. campus placement

study! study! study! already bored of studying? then getting selected in a decent company seems a good option. if you don’t want to study further, or at least not just after b. tech, you can opt for a job. this is considered as a good option as you will get time to decide which field you want to choose between -technical or you want to shift your core interest area from technical to management to some other stream.

4. prepare for civil services

such courses are generally done to become a more job oriented and serve as a connecting bridge between what you know and what the industry expects you to know in order to absorb you into their organization.

6. entrepreneurship-start your venture

startup is trending more as a fashion than a new career option. being your own boss does not mean you can ignore work and life would become easy. starting your own venture and making it as a success would be the toughest work of all the things you can do. it will have its own ups and downs each new day. maybe it would be the case that you don’t get any client for the whole year. be ready for the huge challenges and immense learning if you are determined to become an entrepreneur..

7. go abroad

these days it is one of the trending options that you can opt for. if you choose to study abroad, you will get a lot of learning and exposure along with the education. you might also be able to get a job at international locations if you have plans to settle abroad permanently in the future. there are various integrated opportunities abroad that you can explore. also, along with options of ms abroad you may explore options of ms +phd and other research oriented courses. in addition, you could look at the various fellowships offered in research and development category available that may fascinate you too. you can also apply for the various scholarships which will help you to fund your education partially or completely in aboard.

8. join the army

joining the army/navy/air force or any other wing of the defense services can be one of the other options which can be both exciting and high paying at the same time. you can join as technical staff by applying through the university entry scheme (ues), which requires you to apply on their respective websites or appear for the afcat (air force common admission test). you can also apply for flying positions in indian air force by clearing afcat.

these days career in defense is utterly professional and these positions will give you an opportunity to live your dream, a life with good facilities and a good amount to take home as                        well.

9. be a change maker

you can be the change to the world. you can work for an ngo or start your own business, you can choose a career in social research, opt for journalism or can also do something in your own professional line by helping those who don’t have facilities., e.g. if you are a lawyer, fight for the rights of the less privileged; if you are a doctor, treat people with low cost; if you are an engineer, do innovation for the mass, etc.

10. explore the real artist!

we can mix our profession and our passion and make our passion to be our profession.

it can be anything ranging from painting, performing arts, astrology, photography, writing or yoga.  if you love capturing nature and wildlife, explore your options in photography and it can be any other passion as well. if you can attain expertise in your passion and can earn your living with it, it’s a good way to follow this path. at least you won’t be regretting doing something you would have not liked and you would enjoy every moment doing what you love.
i hope you find something that excites you or at least you were able to find a path to a new career option. what matters in the end is that you are happy about what you have done & what you are doing now.
