GITAM School of Law Admission 2017

School of Law at GITAM University offers various law courses to the students such as 3 years LLB, 5 years Integrated BA LLB (Hons) & 5 years Integrated BBA LLB (Hons).

Generally, LSAT India scores or CLAT scores are considered for the admission in these LLB courses. Students not appearing for LSAT/ CLAT exam are also eligible to apply for direct admissions in LLB courses which are offered at GITAM University. But, remember that the admission of such students is done only on the basis of their personal interview round performance.

According to the sources, GITAM University was conducting GITAM Law Admission Test (GLAT) till 2012. The student’s score in GLAT was considered to be the basis for the admission in law courses offered at GITAM University. But in 2013, the university scrapped GLAT & started offering admissions mainly on the basis of CLAT / LSAT score.

GITAM University application process for the admissions in the law course for 2017 has not started yet. GITAM School of Law admissions process for academic session 2016-17 is complete & classes for the same commenced from 1st August, 2016.

Eligibility criteria & application / admission process for 2017 of GITAM School of Law for all the LLB courses offered by the university is as under.

Eligibility Criteria at GITAM School of Law for Admissions for 2017

Eligibility Criteria at GITAM School of Law for 5 Year BA LLB/ BBA LLB Course: All the students who have passed Standard XII in 10+2 pattern with at least 45% aggregate marks (40% for ST/ SC/ PwD candidates) fulfill eligibility criteria of GITAM School of Law for 2017. Students who have appeared for Standard XII exam are also eligible to apply.

Age criteria: A student meets the eligibility criteria of GITAM University if their age should not be more than 20 years old (for General category admissions) and 22 years old (for ST/ SC/ PwD category admissions) as on 1st July, 2017.

Eligibility Criteria at GITAM School of Law for Three Year-LLB Course: To meet eligibility criteria at GITAM School of Law for 2017 for three-year LLB course, a student should be a graduate (except single sitting graduates from any distance mode education) in any stream (except BFA).

Also, a student should secure minimum 45% marks in graduation (40% for ST/ SC/ PwD students) in order to fulfill the eligibility criteria for 3 year LLB course offered by the law school. Candidates awaiting their graduation results are also eligible to apply.

Age criteria: A student should not be more than 22 years in age (for General category) and 24 years in age (for ST/ SC/ PwD category) as on 1st July, 2017.

GITAM School of Law Admission & Application Process 2017

For GITAM School of Law admission registrations 2017, a student needs to follow the  steps given hereunder:

Step 1: Appear for CLAT/ LSAT

As already informed above, students seeking admission in LLB courses offered at GITAM School of Law should appear for CLAT/ LSAT 2017 exams.

The dates for CLAT/LSAT exam for 2017 are not declared yet. General trend so far is such that both these exams are usually conducted in the month of May every year.

Note: Students who are not appearing for CLAT/ LSAT 2017 should follow GITAM School of Law admission process from Step 2 onwards.

Step 2: Fill application form of GITAM School of Law

Students should apply for GITAM School of Law admissions for 2017. Students need to fill the application form of GITAM School of Law in the offline mode. Application form for admission can be downloaded by the students from the official website of GITAM University. The application form once filled completely should be sent at the address given hereunder:

Along with the GITAM University application form, students should send a demand draft (DD) of Rs 700 (for male candidates) & Rs 500 (for female candidates) issued in favor of Director, School of Law, GITAM University & payable at Visakhapatnam. The DD sent by students would be considered as GITAM School of Law application fee.

Details required to be filled in the GITAM University application form include:

Personal details: This includes name, gender, date of birth, category (ST/ SC/ OBC/ PH/ Others), residential address, religion & nationality, of the student. Students are also required to mention the name of their parent/ guardian.

Address for correspondence

Educational details: Students should disclose their details such as name of the Scholl of Class XII, year of passing Class XII, Education board name, maximum marks, marks obtained, & percentage scored.

DD details: Students are required to state the details of the DD issued by bank to pay GITAM University application fee. The details include DD number, DD date, DD amount, and issuing bank name & branch details.

Step 3: Appear for the personal interview round

Once a student has applied for GITAM School of Law admissions 2017, students are required to appear for the personal interview round conducted by the university.

It is important for the students to know that students who have already appeared for CLAT/LSAT 2017 exams are exempted from giving the personal interview for law course admissions at GITAM University.

Step 4: Appear for GITAM School of Law admission counseling

Finally, students are required to attend the counseling session conducted by School of Law at GITAM University. In the counseling session held by the GITAM School of Law the students would be allotted seats either according to their LSAT/CLAT scores or based on their performance in the personal interview round.

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program was authorized by the United States Congress in 1986 to honor Senator Barry Goldwater, who served his country for 56 years as a soldier and statesman, including 30 years of service in the U.S. Senate.
